It is said  that it takes approximately 10,000 hours to become an expert.  This usually equates to 10 years of dedication to your craft.  CDC leaders have individually passed this milestone and have decades of perspective to share. It is fair to say that there are some things we wished we had done differently.

For example - how wonderful it would have been to create a log of that  experience and have it contribute to professional certification for recognition of the achievements and dedication to that journey.

It was was this idea in  mind that we decided to partner with the International Authority for Professional Coaching & Mentoring to give you the best possible chance of building a professional profile and, therefor,  not wasting years of learning with nothing to show for it.

In an increasingly competitive world - it is even more important to set yourself apart as a professional and give yourself the best chance of success. Read on for information from our partner to see how CDC and IAPCM can help you achieve more.

The International Authority for Professional Coaching and Mentoring (IAPC&M) only promote the very best coaches, mentors and training providers to the public. They are confident that anyone who attains their accreditation, will be amongst the very best that the profession has to offer.

Accrediting coaches since 2004, the IAPC&M are an authority on the accreditation of individual coaches, mentors, training providers, and in-house corporate coach/mentoring programmes, who can demonstrate the highest standards expected within the profession. Their members can be found in their worldwide directory, and they promote the importance of only working with accredited providers to the hiring public.

The IAPC&M are the only accreditation body approved by the International Regulator of Coaching and Mentoring (IRCM), the Coaching and Mentoring Industry Ombudsman.

IAPC&M Capability Assessment Model

IAPC&M approach to accreditation

Anyone who is awarded accreditation with the IAPC&M can be confident that they have demonstrated, through a vigorous and comprehensive process that they are indeed an industry professional. They award accreditation to those who meet their exacting quality standards. This ensures that anyone who approaches a coach, mentor or training provider who has achieved IAPC&M accredited status, can have complete confidence in their capability and professionalism to deliver what has been agreed.

Assessing capability not competency

One of the most important aspects for accreditation is to answer a simple, yet vital, question; can you deliver what you say you can deliver? Are you a professional and capable coach, mentor or training provider?

To ensure that all IAPC&M accredited coaches, mentors and training providers can deliver their advertised services, to the highest possible standards as expected by clients, they have adopted a capability approach to accreditation. This is different from the customary competency method and provides a much more comprehensive and holistic approach to assessing capability and determining success factors.

Individual accreditation
Level of accreditation is based on achieving several factors including the number of hours training you have received, and the number of hours of actual experience you have. The level that you choose to apply for is reflective of your capability: Practitioner, Senior, Master, Fellow (usually by invitation to apply).

Course accreditation

IAPC&M offer five options of accreditation for training courses. The option that you choose to apply for is reflective of several factors based upon the outcomes a participant can expect, including the length of your course (length does not indicate degree of difficulty) and the depth of learning involved and the intellectual demand (from novices to experienced practitioners).
